Anna Prohaska + Eric Schneider - Behind the lines

Sometimes there seems to be more war than peace. The Austrian-British soprano Anna Prohaska plays on that tragic fact. Twenty-five songs about war, soldiers, executed and the front; a moving concert. The warm, lyrical soprano interprets the suffering of war in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

Anna Prohaska

At the instigation of Daniel Barenboim, Prohaska joined the soloist ensemble of Staatsoper Unter den Linden at the age of 23. Since then, she has performed at the Salzburg Festival, Wigmore Hall and Philharmonie de Paris, among others.

From Beethoven to Wolfgang Rihm, from Die Trommel gerühret to Untergang . The songs of Schubert, Schumann and Mahler are very popular. Rich is also repertoire that focuses on the First World War. In addition, Rachmaninov and two war songs by Kurt Weill from his later years in America are heard. Anna Prohaska interprets them with her warm, lyrical soprano voice, good for a pithy sound.
