Apollo Ensemble - the passion of Stölzel
The Apollo Ensemble will perform a passion by Stölzel in De Waalse Kerk. For many people an unknown name. But almost everyone knows the song 'bist du bei mir'. Bach thought it was very beautiful and therefore included it in the well-known 'Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena Bach'. Stölzel also composed 'Jesu deine Passion', a passion in the form of six completed short cantatas, 'Andachten', for four singers and instrumental ensemble. The passion cantatas are interrupted in this concert by instrumental sinfonias by J.S.Bach.

About the Apollo Ensemble
The Apollo Ensemble throws itself into the music as if it were being played for the first time. From over five centuries of music history, from Monteverdi to Stravinsky, we choose the most beautiful pieces and give them new expressiveness. Variety in sound results from our flexible form from duo to orchestra and from the instruments that match the time of composition. What counts is the interaction that we truly experience with our audience; in concerts and at our Via Musica Festival, through training and coaching of professionals and amateurs, and in long-term and broad collaborations with schools. Much more than entertainment; the Apollo Ensemble sees music as a life force.
