Dutch Jazz Competition

The Dutch Jazz Competition has been the national platform for emerging or breakthrough jazz talent for 15 years. In total, 124 bands have registered for the Dutch Jazz Competition 2024. Of these, 4 bands will reach the finals and compete for the main and audience prize and again a prize for the best composition. Winners go home with cash prizes, playing places at relevant festivals and a network for international tours.

Reverso ft. Eric Vloeimans

Eric Vloeimans, one of the most famous trumpet players in the Netherlands, shares a fascination with the international ensemble Reverso for the crossover between jazz and classical music. More than a century ago, European composers such as Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy incorporated influences from the new American jazz into their music. Reverso continues this tradition with 'effervescent motifs, long painterly lines, open sound fields and pointillist statements', according to JazzTimes.

Murray himself describes the quartet as a group of young, creative musicians who want to reach the top – an excellent band that takes his adventurous sounds to new heights.

Lucas Santana

Lucas Santana Grand Orquestra: Candomblé

Candomblé is more than a concert; it is an invitation to reflection and dialogue. Saxophonist Lucas Santana wrote the music for the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, taking the African diaspora in South America as his starting point.

Blue Sands

Blue Sands + Hermine Deurloo & Jochem Braat

Indie jazz duo Blue Sands, consisting of Reindert Kragt and singer Esther Van Hees, proves that voice and bass can be an exciting and intimate combination. From Grunge to jazz to video game scores, Blue Sands is inspired by all genres and you can hear that in their set.
