Enji
Singer Enji can compete with the best, but at the beginning of her breakthrough album 'Ulaan' she immediately makes it clear where she comes from: from Mongolia, which makes her unique in vocal jazz. Especially because she sings in her mother tongue, which she naturally merges with melodious, soulful jazz. Enji performs at the Bimhuis.

Last year she was already a striking appearance at North Sea Jazz, with Sun-Mi Hong on drums. Now she plays in an intimate setting with her regular guitarist Paul Brändle and double bassist Martin Zenker. 'Like Ella Fitzgerald singing in Mongolian', Enji was praised by Mojo Magazine and BBC DJ Gilles Peterson is also a fan. The singer was born in Ulaanbaatar and grew up with traditional folk songs and dance. She later also immersed herself in the age-old art form of throat singing for which Mongolian music is known. She studied jazz in Europe and has released three albums to date. In doing so, she increasingly allows more influences; for example, she played with musicians from Brazil at Ulaan .
