Bösendorfer Series: Nino Gvetadze
"Gvetadze makes her grand piano whisper and sing charmingly. With her refined touch she knows how to capture the nocturnal, dreamy atmosphere in the heart." - Het Parool The Georgian pianist Nino Gvetadz comes to De Waalse Kerk with a program around Brahms, Liszt and Schumann . The Tbilisi-born and raised pianist is widely praised for her unique sense of timbre and brilliant playing. It is therefore not surprising that top conductors such as Klaus Mäkelä and Jaap van Zweden have already wanted to collaborate with her. In 2008 she also won the second prize, the press prize and the audience prize at the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht. Two years later she received a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award.

Gvetadz leads an active international musical life as a chamber musician and also enjoys playing solo recitals where, she says, she can tell her personal story. She released no fewer than five CDs under the prestigious Challenge Classics label. For her latest album 'The Muse' the pianist made a selection from the piano works of Johannes Brahms; an overview of the piano repertoire in the different phases of his life. The album was highly praised by the national and international press and this evening she will perform 2 Rhapsodies and Handel Variations and Fugue by the composer.
