BROKKEN miniFEST: Corrie van Binsbergen, Albert van Veenendaal, Toon Tellegen, PRĄD by Zofia “Sofinka” Imiela & Alan Purves

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of our hall and the 40th anniversary of Zaal100, guitarist Corrie van Binsbergen presents a mini-version of the illustrious Brokken Festival. For years Van Binsbergen organized Brokken Festivals in both our hall and Zaal100 with enormous success, giving countless musicians the chance to be heard in their own idiosyncratic way.  A festival that opens the ears and widens the view. Characteristic is the great variety of styles, genres and ages. She presents in this mini-edition: PRĄD | DRIVE by Sofinka PRĄD | DRIVE project is an initiative of Polish pianist, vocalist and composer Zofia ‘Sofinka’Imiela. The project is based on experimenting with and exploring traditional Polish music, with seven voices and percussion. Mirna Attia, Silva de Waard, Iolaysa Braga Tavares, Francisca Snip, Louise Linkenbach, Corine Borsje, Zofia Sofinka Imiela ALAN PURVES Whether obscure instruments like boomwackers, homemade instruments like the brimbram or a rubber pig, in the hands of Alan Purves everything is music. A fixture in the history of the many Brokken Festivals, and therefore indispensable at this special edition. Alan Purves percussion, toys HEMELS EN VERGEEFS Lyrical inspiration combined with absurdism. It doesn’t seem possible. But it is possible in the poetry of Toon Tellegen. And it fits very well with the compositions and improvisations of the musicians. Text and music merge, reinforce each other, sometimes contrast and form a lucid whole. A door opens, children are customers, standing on their toes, and the world in its dust jacket comes out of its twilight, asks honey sweetly, “What did you wish for?
Not knowing its name, they point to peace.
