An evening of intimate avantpop from Brooklyn
Carmen Quill is a double bassist, singer, and composer from Brooklyn, NY. She is known for her sound and versatility on the double bass, her engaging performances as a solo artist, and her intuitive sensibility as an improviser. Her debut solo recording, Don't Get Comfy/Nowhere (2020), "thrives on the meeting of restraint and vulnerability, and the songs feel as emotional and virtuosic as a power ballad yet spare and restrained as a Rembrandt" (Pitchfork).
Melissa Weikart is a pianist, singer, and composer who was born in Paris, grew up in Boston, and moved back to France four years ago. She makes music to heal, to air her own grievances, and to find deeper answers to life’s riddles. Her music has since gained national attention—she was awarded the 2022 Nancy Jazz Emerging Artist Prize and the Concours National de Jazz à la Défense instrumentalist prize. Her third and latest release, Easy (2025), is available everywhere.
