Together with top musicians and host Camiel Jansen, we investigate what makes the recognizable tunes of the great classical masterpieces so beautiful and special. On this evening you will hear that Beethoven's string quartet music is heartbreaking, you will listen to the new world in Dvořák's 'American' quartet and you will hear the heavy mood of Shostakovich, who composed under the pressure of the Soviet regime.

Chaos String Quartet

The Chaos String Quartet has only been around since 2019, but is already making waves. The musicians were recently named BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist 2023-2025, but their resume includes multiple awards. They themselves summarise their playing as follows: a refined ensemble culture, combined with a fiery vitality. They also have a passion for the experimental and improvisatory. These characteristics make the quartet ideally suited to walk through a number of classical highlights with verve.
