Les Dames Vocales, founded in 2020, opens this anniversary year with a passion concert in De Waalse Kerk. The focus is on the interpretation of Franz Liszt's Via Crucis, specially arranged for this concert. This much-loved work for the passion period will be performed in a surprising version for women's choir and bajan, a further development of the accordion. Les Dames Vocales has once again found a special accompanist in the young talented bajanist Robbrecht van Cauwenberghe. NB The end time mentioned is an indication.

Les Dames Vocales

Les Dames Vocales is an Amsterdam project ensemble for female voices. The singers are all experienced and often sing in mixed choirs or other ensembles. But the love for the beautiful repertoire and the special vocal sound that is typical of the combination of high voices brings these musicians together in this challenging ensemble. In a relatively short time we work towards the highest possible level. The ensemble has a broad taste: in principle all the classical repertoire that is suitable for our composition, starting with early medieval music up to contemporary.

Robbrecht van Cauwenberghe

Robbrecht van Cauwenberghe is regularly asked for concerts and music theater productions at home and abroad due to his virtuosity and unique instrument. He was recently heard in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Wiener Konzerthaus, Bachfestival Dordrecht, Gent Festival van Vlaanderen, International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht and in various Dutch concert halls and theaters. In the summer of 2021 he made his debut as a soloist with the Stift Festival Orchestra with the double concerto Sieben Worte (Sofia Gubaidulina) alongside cellist David Cohen.

As a permanent member of the Amsterdam Oorkaan Ensemble he plays in the theatrical concerts Vier! (4+), Gong en de 4 neuzen (5+) and Tempo (7+). He also played in productions by De Nederlandse Reisopera, Theater Sonnevanck, Festival Dag in de Branding and Holland Opera. Robbrecht can also be heard regularly on radio and TV, including the Avrotros Spring Concert, 25 Years of the Grachtenfestival (NPO 2), a residency in Opium on NPO Klassiek, and as a "young hero" in the TV program Podium Klassiek.
