Crosscurrents Trio Dave Holland & Zakir Hussain & Chris Potter
The star rating is evenly distributed over this trio during this evening in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. These three crowd pullers have already sought the boundaries of Indian music and jazz, with unprecedented virtuosity. Now they go to the core as a trio, beyond raga and swing, with deep and detailed interplay and a refined musical language of their own.

Meeting between greats from jazz and Indian music
Zakir Hussain, grandmaster of Indian percussion, lays the foundation with propulsive playing on the tabla. Dave Holland, the British double bassist who played with Miles Davis, sets the direction with his clear lines. And Chris Potter proves with his exceptional technique and inexhaustible inventiveness that he is one of the great tenor saxophonists in American jazz of the past decades.
