The Amsterdam Salon by violinist Rosanne Philippens is a concert series on Sunday afternoons that aims to bring the world of classical music to more people. Shelter church on the canal, the Singelkerk, is being converted into a living room "salon" with cozy chairs and sink-in benches in a circle around the musicians. Violinist Rosanne Philippens leads the one-hour concert, which always presents a very varied program with not too long pieces. The music alternates with stories; the stories can be personal, but the music is usually also placed in a historical context, to help the listener along the way. An unmissable part of the salon is the delicious wine and finger-licking snacks and the jam session that follows the concert. This is an open stage where anyone from the audience can jump onto the floor to show or hear their hidden passion.

The Sunday afternoon concerts, that last an hour, are taking place in a clandestine church with, for the occasion, has the interior of a living room. The musicians are surrounded by the audience, which is sitting on comfortable couches or sweet salon chairs. The music is always very variated and the musicians give an either personal explanation or put the pieces into a historical context. There will be great wine and very tasty bites.
