Eric Vaarzon Morel
Eric, son of painter Wim Vaarzon Morel, is a flamenco guitarist, theater maker and composer. At the age of sixteen he was taught by Paco Peña at the 7th Rencontres de la Guitare in France. Inspired by this event, he moved to Spain at the age of nineteen, where he lived and worked for two years in Madrid and Seville. This was the beginning of his professional formation that took him to many concert and theater stages at home and abroad and countless collaborations with musicians, actors, artists and theater makers.

Spanish influences
On Thursday, May 29, the musician will be in Tolhuistuin with a new project. Eric and his talented band, consisting of students from the Amsterdam Conservatory, look for Spanish influences in Miles Davis' music, with an emphasis on albums such as 'Kind of Blue' and 'Sketches of Spain'. They highlight this in a unique way, resulting in a mix of flamenco and jazz. Eric and his ensemble present a passionate flamenco-jazz performance, inspired by the exotic Spanish sounds that Davis introduced 60 years ago. A mix of flamenco guitar, trumpet, electric guitar, singers and cajón creates a limitless flamenco-blues experience.
