Repertoire
The sometimes festive, sometimes dramatic, but also mythical repertoire offers the listener the opportunity to relive Krashna's journey from Amsterdam. The program varies widely in popularity. Vlatva is Smetena's indispensable classic that provides a musical translation of the river that flows through the major Czech cities. Joseph Haydn, one of the most celebrated composers in Europe, composed the triumphal piece Te Deum. Thanks to the unison lines in the choir and the opening in the key of C major, it takes on a very festive tone. On the other hand, Krashna has looked for lesser-known pieces to broaden the listener's musical horizons. Lady Godiva by Vítězslav Novk, Bianca da Molena by Mieczysław Karłowicz and Mona Lisa Gioconda by Ludomir Różycki are all narrative orchestral pieces that transport the listener to other countries and times. The Mass Missa Sancti Josephi creates special dynamics with soloist quartets and baroque fugues, making it difficult to believe that Josef Elsner is unknown outside Poland.
Krashna Musika: the most fun student orchestra in the Netherlands!
Krashna Musika is the student music association of TU Delft. The orchestra and choir rehearse weekly on Monday and Wednesday evenings under the direction of conductors Stijn Berkouwer (orchestra) and Ruben de Grauw (choir). Last summer, Krashna even won the Avrotros competition for “The Most Fun Student Orchestra in the Netherlands”! With many enthusiastic and talented members, Krashna can perform beautiful concerts. Since April, both choir and orchestra members have been busy rehearsing the tour repertoire.
