Het langste jaar
Het Zesde Metaal has been a fixture in the Belgian music landscape since 2005, with Belpop classics such as 'Ploegsteert', 'Naar De Wuppe' and 'Tid Van Ton', and award-winning albums such as 'Nie Voe Kinders', 'Calais' and 'Skepsels'. 'The Longest Year', the band's sixth album, will soon be released and was created in emotional circumstances. In mid-2022, the news of the incurable illness of guitarist and keyboardist Tom Pintens hit like a bomb, and it inspired the band to make an album in the intimacy of their own circle. Pintens put on the hat of producer and led the band into the studio the following summer to give it their all one last time. He died a month after the recordings. 'Het langste jaar' has become a musical reflection of the heaviest period in the band's history, but is at the same time perhaps Het Zesde Metaal's most melodic album, with more room than ever for subtle arrangements.
