Hollandse nieuwe Ralph van Raat
It doesn't get any newer than this: all six of the six pieces on tonight's program are world premieres. It is therefore no coincidence that five of the six pieces were specially composed for Ralph van Raat, who enthusiastically explains the program from the stage. As an advocate of fresh nuts, Van Raat has no equal. In addition to being an internationally renowned pianist, he is also a qualified pilot. Together, the seven compositions offer a sample of contemporary Dutch music: rich, vital and exceptionally varied. Can be heard in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.
Hollandse nieuwe Ralph van Raat
Six world premieres for and by master pianist Van Raat
Peter Adriaansz creates fascinating mechanisms without organic development. Self-proclaimed 'avant-pop composer' Jacob ter Veldhuis, 'Composer Laureate' Anne-Maartje Lemereis and choir composer Gerard Beljon write original music that communicates immediately. The eclectic Guus Janssen, himself a leading pianist, refers in his composition to the series of visual works of art by the Dutch artist Ger van Elk.
