Imarhan
Imarhan is a Tuareg band that has been introducing Assouf, the desert blues, to a larger audience since 2016. The quintet is led by Sadam Tahar Khaldi and while many other Tuareg bands work from America, Imarhan prefers Tamanrassat, the capital of the Tuareg. Here the band builds its own studio, putting them in close contact with their culture, city and desert and using their music to speak on behalf of a forgotten generation.

Their third album 'Aboogi' is full of references to the past, while musicians such as Abdallah Ag Alhousseyni, Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, Sulafa Elyas provide musical excursions with gritty guitar riffs, poetic lyrics and African choirs. The album has one purpose and that is to share the story of feeling connected to nature, oppression, lost generations, hopes and struggles.
