Jinghui Guangxuan Symphony Orchestra
The Jinghui Guangxuan Symphony Orchestra, named after Buddhist masters Jinghui and Guangxuan, is a Chan symphony orchestra composed entirely of monks and nuns. The orchestra seeks to spread and promote the values of sincerity, goodness and beauty in traditional Eastern culture to contribute to world peace. The Jinghui Guangxuan Symphony Orchestra is the first orchestra to advocate the practice of Chan through learning and playing music. On the one hand, professionalism in musical technique is pursued. On the other hand, great emphasis is placed on the development of virtues to achieve Buddhahood.
All Jinghui Guangxuan Symphony Orchestra members began their musical training upon entering the monastery. According to Master Shiwule's teachings, every monk and nun integrates daily life with the art of music, combining Chan practice with singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments. The philosophy of the Jinghui Guangxuan Symphony Orchestra is that musical performance is not only a Chan practice but also a Buddhist blessing ceremony.
