Matinee Doric String Quartet + Tabea Zimmermann
Schumann and Mendelssohn first met in 1835; Robert as a critic and novice composer, Felix as chief conductor of the Leipziger Gewandhaus Orchestra and composer with all the necessary successes to his name. The two twentysomethings developed a deep friendship, in which they not only promoted and performed each other's works, but also played chamber music, chess and billiards together.
