The madrigal: the mother tongue of the trombone
The Nympheas Trombone Quartet presents pieces from their program 'Matricale'. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the madrigal flourished in Italy: many composers wrote beautiful madrigals that were performed by excellent musicians. These musicians played on newly invented instruments, including the trombone. Thus the Italian madrigal became the mother tongue of the trombone and the trombone ensemble. The quartet plays music by composers such as Adriaen Willaert, Giovanni Rovetta, Giovanni Gabrieli and Josquin Desprez in new, original arrangements.
