Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège / Nelson Goerner - Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony and Ravel’s Piano Concerto
Saint-Saëns' 'Organ Symphony' sounds extra beautiful in the Concertgebouw thanks to the beautiful and powerful Maarschalkerweer organ. Together with grandmaster Nelson Goerner, the Orchester Philharmonique Royal de Liège will also play Ravel's jazzy 'Piano Concerto in G'.

Symphony No. 3 by Saint-Saëns
Because Saint-Saëns' Third Symphony requires a large concert organ, The Concertgebouw with the Maarschalkerweerd organ in the Main Hall is the perfect location. The composer himself was satisfied with his large-scale work, which was nicknamed the 'Organ Symphony': 'I gave everything I could have given. I can never repeat what I have done now.' The Orchester Philharmonique Royal de Liège performs the symphony together with organist Thierry Escaich.
Nelson Goerner plays Ravel's Piano Concerto in G
Nelson Goerner is one of the best classical pianists in the world. The Argentine grandmaster is praised for his integrity and poetic refinement, his compelling playing and his powers of persuasion. According to Le Monde, he is a 'master goldsmith of the keyboard'. This time he plays Ravel's contrasting Piano Concerto in G, an attractive concert full of jazzy rhythms, Eastern mysticism and Spanish folk music.
