András Schiff returns to the Concertgebouw Orchestra
Last season, András Schiff enchanted the Amsterdam audience with an entertaining surprise recital. 'He is at the height of his powers and seduces the listener to the fullest,' wrote Het Parool. This time he plays Beethoven's unique Fourth Piano Concerto with the Concertgebouw Orchestra. "The clarity of András Schiff's Beethoven is unforgettable," said The Times about an earlier performance by the Hungarian master pianist.
Myung-whun Chung conducts Beethoven and Brahms
Forty years ago, Myung-whun Chung was a guest with the Concertgebouw Orchestra for the first time, the start of a frequent collaboration. This summer, the South Korean top conductor will even perform twice. For the first concert on August 23, he selected the most beautiful fragments from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. Tonight, in addition to Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto, he will also conduct Brahms' melancholy Fourth Symphony. The impressive finale is a tribute to Bach.
