While studying economics in Johannesburg, the self-taught Nigerian singer-songwriter, arranger and producer Tems was already involved in music. Her boundary-blurring sound of Afropop, R&B, soul and reggae earned her a number 1 hit on the Nigerian Apple Music Chart in 2020 with the single 'Damages', taken from her debut EP 'For Broken Ears'.

Essence
That same year, she gained international recognition through her contribution to Wizkid's song 'Essence', which earned her a Grammy nomination. Tems also collaborated with celebrities such as Beyoncé, Khalid, Drake and Future. Leading media such as Pitchfork, Vogue and The Fader wrote words of praise. Tems scored another hit single from the EP follow-up 'If Orange Was A Place' with 'Crazy Tings'. This summer, she will make her debut in Paradiso.
