Art Exposition: Mart Visser 'The Reset'
The Reset features approximately 65 artworks that showcase where Visser currently stands as an artist. The exhibition returns to the raw process of discovery and expression, staying true to a single subject: the head and its myriad facial expressions. The exhibition takes place at Vrije Academie, Herengracht 368. Free entry.
Art Exposition: Mart Visser 'The Reset'
Mart Visser
Although Mart Visser is best known for his work as a fashion designer, he has also been a passionate and multidisciplinary artist for years. He makes sculptures and paintings intuitively and experiments with formats and the use of materials. Just like in his modernist fashion design, structure, relief, texture, and technique enhance the design. The starting point for Visser's visual art is personal empathy and the search for common ground with other art he admires or intrigues. In addition, it is also a search for the human form, inner integrity or authenticity. Each work is a reflection of encounters. For Mart, his art is an ode to creation.
The monumental canal house on the Herengracht has a rich history and authentic appearance. In 2021, it was thoroughly renovated and renamed Huis Vasari. It is home to the Vrije Academie, the largest national educational institute for art and culture.
