Bloeiende Melodieën (Blooming Melodies)

Music by Mike Boddé with art about flowers and nature

For Bloeiende Melodiën, the museum selected artists who have created a special series in which they express their emotions and feelings through flowers and nature. The well-known pianist and composer Mike Boddé was inspired by their work and wrote music especially for each series for the exhibition. This results in special combinations, from dramatic sounds during the flight of a flock of starlings to romance with a dark edge at the sight of beautiful flowers in decay. The music adds an extra dimension to the experience of the visual arts.

10 artists with diverse styles, disciplines and subjects are participating in the exhibition. Photography, mixed media, painting, glass and textile works alternate and provide equally varied music. Mike Boddé, known from Podium Klassiek and the Mike & Thomas Show, wrote and played nine compositions. In addition, there is a bonus track that will only be revealed in the exhibition.

Artists

In Bloeiende Melodiën, work can be seen by the artists Teis Albers, Rens Dekker, Carola van Dyke, Marian van Esch, Erik Hijweege, Lia Koster, Yasmin-Claire Tan, Claudia de Vos, Ems Willems and Hans Withoos. In addition, floral objects by Annette Lagendijk, made for her Proeve van Meesterschap Bloemsierkunst, are shown in the small hall of the museum.

Visitors can view the artwork while listening to the accompanying music. Headphones that hang near the work can be used for this. It's also possible to bring your own earplugs or headphones and listen to the music via your phone. Guided tours are also on offer.
