Emma Van der Put chooses a specific location or situation for each video
This choice determines the framework of the film. As an observer, she tries to balance empathy and detachment. With Mother, she creates a temporary, hypnotic encounter between the eyes of a woman on the screen and the eyes of the viewer. The image, which is apparently motionless, touches the viewer through its immediacy and emotional closeness. This video loop moves back and forth between darkness and light, becoming a meditation on the life cycle. The flame reflected in the eyes resembles a hearth, connecting us to home, to ourselves.
