Neighbouring Frequencies

Sound art is a connecting factor between the Netherlands and Belgium. There is a vibrant field of hybrid art practices in which the investigation of sound in many artistic and critical guises is central. From installation art and performances to technological experiments that regularly involve collaboration across borders.

FIBER

The exhibition Neighboring Frequencies shows the work of five artists who demonstrate the interconnections and richness of sound art. Listening to their sculptures and installations, we learn about the hidden dimensions of our living environment and the relationships between humans, non-humans and landscape.

The selection was made through a collaboration between de Brakke Grond, the Amsterdam media art and music festival FIBER and the international arts center STUK in Leuven. With work by Els Viaene, Floris Vanhoof, Oussama Tabti, Stijn Demeulenaere and Luis Lecea Romera.
