This 3-day symposium organized by the nomadic art initiative Suns and Stars takes place in GROND. This is the public space on the ground floor of the brand new Bajesdorp building. The symposium focuses on the question: 'How do we create a meeting place for practicing and honing the art of mutually dependent coexistence?'

We don't want to be stars (but parts of constellations)

We Don’t Want to Be Stars (But Parts of Constellations) is the powerful Anzaldúan title of this symposium. The symposium is a shared activity focused on connection. It’s an alliance between local communities, both human and non-human, working and creating together.

The symposium is like an ongoing experiment, where participants talk, read, work, watch films, walk, and spend time together, all while cooking and eating. This idea of mutual give-and-take explores how to be together as a community, making participants active builders of a shared, symbiotic space.

Friday, 20 September 2024 - from 17:00: Reading group, training and film in progress by Viktorija Ilioska, choir rehearsal with Doe Maar Niet.

Saturday, 21 September 2024 - from 13:00: Reading group, workshop by Femke Ravensbergen, performance by Natalia Papaeva, children’s workshop on protest banners, live performance by Fani Konstantinidou.

Sunday, 22 September 2024 - from 13:00: Reading group, lecture by Alaa Abu Asaad, fermentation workshop by Lianne van Roekel, film installation by Sojung Jun.

Friday to Sunday: Puzzle Corner by Eléonore de Montesquiou, Sudanese cooking and dining with Mohamed Alnoor Hedjaab.
