Highlights of the 7th Edition of Muze van Zuid
Some highlights include Henriëtte Bosmans' most lyrical cello concerto for her beloved Frieda Belinfante, with whom she lived together in many houses in district-Zuid, a Dutch premiere of composer Kate Moore, poet Nisrine Mbarki with Camerata Trajectina, and a smashing celebration of forty years of broadcasting by 'Concertzender', starring both Oorkaan Ensemble and winners of Edison 'Klassiek' Prize 2023: violinist Julija Hartig and pianist Reineke Broekhans. Oorkaan Ensemble also brings a fresh de-colonized perspective on Indonesia during the festival's kick-off at The Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
Making room for concerts in district-Zuid
In 2025, Muze van Zuid will showcase how Amsterdam developed into a colourful free port for music in 750 years. The upcoming edition focuses on 'Ruimte' in all aspects: room, universe, space, panoramic viewpoints. The festival creates room for rooftop-concerts. Musicians and dancers will honour the moon, stars, and planets. Dutch 'National' philosopher Marjan Slob will challenge the minds to think broadly. One can enjoy a vibrant multi-voiced musical opulence in musical styles, genres and crossovers. Children will sing Colombian folk songs with singer Juliana Martina, while eight string players from Amsterdam-based Roctet are excited to perform both new music and Mendelssohn. People of all generations and backgrounds will come together in a celebration of cultural heritage in all kinds of spaces in Zuid.
Come and experience Muze van Zuid – where streets resonate and composers come to life in the Concertgebouw neighborhood, De Pijp, Beatrixpark, Zuidas, the area around the Roelof Hartplein, Olympiaplein, and Vondelpark: 5 days of celebration! Check the Muze van Zuid website (website is in the Dutch language) for information and more.
