Amsterdam Sinfonietta + ISH Dance Collective - Het barre land in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ
The performance 'The barren land' about the endless cycle of decay and rebirth is based on the poem by TS Eliot and inspired by music by Iranian composer Farokzhad Layegh. In this unique collaboration, the musicians and dancers challenge each other to push their own boundaries with different music styles and dance forms.

The Waste Land
Over a hundred years ago, TS Eliot wrote the revolutionary poem The Waste Land . The world he describes in it shows many similarities with the world today. A world in which challenges such as war, poverty, loneliness and climate crisis continue to pile up. Hope and will, however, are never lost. Stirring string music by Amsterdam Sinfonietta and acrobatic dance by ISH Dance Collective take you on a sensory quest towards the future, from darkness to light.
NB. An introduction was previously scheduled for this concert. This has been cancelled.
