PRJCT Amsterdam, Maarten Engeltjes + Alexander Chance - Ode on the death of Mr. Henry Purcell

John Blow composed 'Ode on the death of Mr. Henry Purcell', an almost intimate ode to the great talent of composer Purcell who was reverently called 'Orpheus Britannicus'. Two great countertenors and baroque ensemble PRJCT Amsterdam will perform this ode plus other arias by Purcell and his contemporaries in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

Ode on the death of Mr. Henry Purcell

Grief can sometimes lead to something very beautiful. When the British composer Henry Purcell died in 1695, his pupil John Blow composed a phenomenal memorial ode for him.

Excellent young baroque musicians with a shared musical vision form the core of PRJCT Amsterdam. Or as Bachtrack formulated it: 'The 12-piece orchestra sounds full and loyally follows the aesthetic initiative of its charismatic leader.' That figurehead is the successful Dutch countertenor Maarten Angels. He now finds countertenor Alexander Chance next to him, who follows in the footsteps of his world-famous father Michael Chance.
