Even if you haven't heard of Heine yet, you may know this famous statement. This is often associated with the book burnings before and during the Second World War, but was done about a hundred years before that. Harry Heine, born into a Jewish German family in Düsseldorf in 1797, would become one of the best-known German writers and poets.

Heine never limited himself to one belief system and religion and spirituality were important parts of his life and work. He regularly struggled with the question: How can you be religious in modern times?

Practical

The doors and café are open from 6:15 PM. The doors close at 7:15 PM. The lecture starts at 7:30 PM. You can ask questions from 8:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Afterwards you can buy a drink in the café if you feel like it. The lecture is in English, costs €20 and you can also follow it online.
