Lecture: Rediscovering Alchemy: Between Lab & Psyche

The Alchemist

For centuries, historians, artists, psychologists and scientists have been trying to understand the essence of alchemy. The Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung stated that alchemical processes and symbols can be found in the human psyche. He did research into this together with Marie-Louise von Franz, but they never examined the psyche of a living, practising alchemist.

In this lecture, Jungian analyst Farânak Mirjalili talks about the findings of a three-year investigation into the transformative consequences of alchemical research in the laboratory for the psyche, body and being of the alchemist.
