Invest-NL boosts innovation with €5M in VCC Deep Tech Fund
Funding focusing on key climate tech innovation
Invest-NL has recently ramped up its funding for climate tech innovation, with the latest announcement of a €5 million investment into the VCC Deep Tech Fund, managed by Value Creation Capital (VCC). The fund focuses on key sectors such as advanced optics, artificial intelligence, and nanotechnology, aiming to strengthen the Netherlands' innovation capacity, professionalise the fund, and draw in further investments.
In addition to Invest-NL, other VCC Deep Tech Fund participants include Oost NL, TNO, leading tech investors, and family offices. The fund is expected to close in June 2025 and currently holds stakes in companies such as Optics11, Delmic, and the recently added Fastmicro. Over the next two years, the fund plans to make at least four more investments in high-tech startups and scale-ups, further contributing to the Dutch innovation landscape and enhancing international competitiveness in key technologies.
The VCC Deep Tech Fund aligns closely with Invest-NL's strategy of supporting early-stage venture capital funds led by entrepreneurial managers pivotal to the Dutch high-tech and deep-tech network. Furthermore, VCC has strong ties with other funds, such as Forward. One, in which Invest-NL also invests through the Dutch Future Fund I.
Amsterdam’s climate tech innovation is thriving
As the global need for climate action intensifies, investment funds like Invest-NL are making an impact by supporting innovative entrepreneurs. Many of these newly funded climate entrepreneurs call Amsterdam home. This is why the city is rapidly emerging as a key player in climate tech innovation, driven by this growing network of startups and companies committed to climate solutions.
Notable funding players include SET Ventures, Carbon Equity, and Move Energy, which have all recently invested millions in climate tech innovation. The success of these funding efforts highlights the maturation of the market, promoting a healthy funding ecosystem. This, in turn, strengthens Amsterdam’s role in the fight against climate change.
