Over the years, Kristian has received top prizes in numerous international guitar competitions. He recently received first prize in the guitar division at the 2024 FCMF National Music Festival's Emerging Artist Competition. In 2016, he received first prize at the Antwerp International Guitar Competition in Belgium, as well as a top prize at the Uppsala International Guitar Festival and Competition. Kristian also received first prize at the 2015 Guitar Montreal International Youth Competition.

Who's afraid of Arnold Schönberg? His popular Kammersinfonie no. 1 is an early masterpiece that is still audibly rooted in the 19th century, although its tonality is creaking here and there. Asko|Schönberg honours its namesake tonight with a programme in which superior instrumentation is the common denominator. Hear how Schönberg's refined art is emulated by his pupil Alban Berg and by Oliver Knussen (1952 - 2018), a dear friend of Asko|Schönberg and the Muziekgebouw.

Het Spectra Ensemble - Premieres

The renowned Spectra ensemble for new music from Flanders is a guest at the Orgelpark as part of a collaboration project between the conservatories of Ghent and The Hague. Three students from each conservatory are writing new compositions for organ, flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello and percussion. The students are supervised by composer and teacher Trevor Grahl.

Joey Roukens, Friedrich Gulda and Antonín Dvořák, three composers who were inspired by music from the new world. Roukens by pop, Gulda by jazz and Dvořák by spirituals. The world premiere of Roukens' new work in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam is conducted by conductor Lahav Shani.

Melodious, dynamic pop songs played by two thoroughbred musicians on guitar and trumpet in Café De Roode Remise. The trumpet sounds glide through the guitar sounds. Sometimes subdued and sometimes rousing, the songs find their way to the listener where they quickly stick in the memory. Tobias Bader's own songs combined with the sultry trumpet sounds of Thomas Wessels sound as if you have heard them before. And yet it is your first time.

Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Antje Weithaas + Georgy Kovalev - Sinfonia Concertante

Widmann borrowed the title for his theatrical 'Jagdquartett' from Mozart's masterful string quartet of the same name. The work demands dramatic flair from the musicians; imagine a chase that ends in the cellist's demise. Dvořák's 'Serenade for Strings' is one of the most important pieces in the string orchestra repertoire and is loved for its rich melodies and graceful atmosphere, full of Slavic verve and characteristic rhythms. Theatricality and lively interaction in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

Lapislázuli

Curious about Spanish and Mexican music and poetry from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and about popular music from Spain and Latin America, Mexican violinist Fátima Hernández and Spanish harpsichordist and pianist Isabel Negrín founded Lapislázuli in 2024. With this program in Café De Roode Remise, Lapislázuli creates a sense of longing for a faraway land.

Shadowlands ft. Robin Fincker, Lauren Kinsella & Kit Downes

Improvising, the international trio mixes age-old melodies, such as old music, folk and church hymns, with their own compositions. Kit Downes, a key figure in British jazz, alternates between piano and Hammond organ. Intimate interplay of a new formation, inspired by old songs in the Bimhuis.

Iddo van der Giessen en Joram van Ketel - Trombone & organ

Organist Iddo van der Giessen and trombonist Joram van Ketel made an impression at the presentation for the Sweelinck-Muller Prize, a prize for innovative programming and performance. Composer Steven Verhelst wrote new work for this duo that will perform in the Orgelpark.

Monobloco will give an extra show in the Melkweg on December 2! Monobloco is a Brazilian street band that became famous for their performances during carnival. Tens of thousands of partygoers follow the band during the world-famous parades in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Get ready for rousing drums, swinging hips, a lot of samba and uma grande festa.

Jaïr Faria is a rising star in the music world, known for his unique mix of pop, neo-soul and indie rock. His musical career started in 2021 with the Dutch-language track "Terug Naar Nu", a collaboration with his famous father, Glen Faria. With "Valentine" (2021), Jaïr showed his own sound for the first time. The single "Wasted Noun" (2023) provided several highlights, including performances at Podium Zwart and Melkweg Radar, an item in RTL Boulevard and airplay on Radio 1 and Radio 2.

On Saturday 24 November at 15:00 the third Samsoniade will take place in music club house Splendor Amsterdam, a concert around the chamber music of composer René Samson. Violinist Joris van Rijn, mezzo-soprano Michaela Riener, harpist Sandrine Chatron and pianist Jeroen Sarphati will perform compositions by René Samson as well as works by Maurice Ravel and the young French composer Benoît Menut.
