Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest en Kian Soltani - From the new world
Joey Roukens, Friedrich Gulda and Antonín Dvořák, three composers who were inspired by music from the new world. Roukens by pop, Gulda by jazz and Dvořák by spirituals. The world premiere of Roukens' new work in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam is conducted by conductor Lahav Shani.

The musical rollercoasters of Roukens and Gulda
Roukens is lagging behind due to health problems and only says about his new piece: it will be 'a quickly cheerful motoric piece of about twelve minutes'. Friedrich Gulda (1930-2000) was a unique phenomenon as a pianist: his love for Mozart and Beethoven was as great as his passion for jazz. We hear that flawlessly in the Cello Concerto that he wrote for his great friend Heinrich Schiff. A virtuoso ride on a rollercoaster from big band jazz to Tyrolean yodel.
