Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Antje Weithaas + Georgy Kovalev - Sinfonia Concertante
Widmann borrowed the title for his theatrical 'Jagdquartett' from Mozart's masterful string quartet of the same name. The work demands dramatic flair from the musicians; imagine a chase that ends in the cellist's demise. Dvoák's 'Serenade for Strings' is one of the most important pieces in the string orchestra repertoire and is loved for its rich melodies and graceful atmosphere, full of Slavic verve and characteristic rhythms. Theatricality and lively interaction in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

Sinfonia Concertante
In the 18th century, the sinfonia concertante, a symphony with solo parts, was a very popular genre. The audience enjoyed the spectacular rivalry between the different soloists. Leopold Mozart persuaded his son Wolfgang to master this genre and Mozart created a deep and lively interaction between the soloists and the orchestra.
