The Illustrated Urban Wilderness

Museum Het Schip and the Illustration Embassy present The Illustrated Urban Wilderness at the Meterhuisje at Westergas. This pop-up exhibition, adjacent to "The Worker's Paradise," celebrates the biodiversity of Westerpark and explores the convergence of city and nature. Through botanical illustrations, eco-friendly prints, workshops, and open studios, visitors can discover how greenery contributes to a livable city. Open from January 31 to March 2. Revoir Paris - Paris through the lens of the Séeberger brothers (1900-1907)

Huis Marseille, Museum for Photography will be showing a selection of original, large-format prints by the Séeberger brothers, successful French amateur photographers, in the exhibition Revoir Paris. Paris through the lens of the Séeberger brothers (1900-1907). The brothers’ photos were made in the course of four photographic competitions organised by the city of Paris in the early 20th century, and are now held by Musée Carnavalet, the museum of the history of Paris itself. They represent an early form of street photography, and have never been exhibited on this scale before. Of the 72 prints on show in Huis Marseille, sixteen were rediscovered in 2017 in the attic of the Paris museum.

Now, 50 of these drawings are part of an exhibition featuring poetry performances, consultations with tree experts, and the launch of a book about the entire project. This exhibition, which is a tribute to Amsterdam as a city of trees, will run from 4 to 20 April 2025.

Faces of North Holland

For a long time, portraits were only affordable for the wealthiest in society. Painted, drawn, printed, or sculpted portraits were costly. As a result, most people were never portrayed, and we don't see them in museum collections. This had to change! On Saturday September 7, the exhibition "Battleground" by Haevan Lee opens at Bradwolff Projects in Amsterdam East. This installation of paintings explores the psychological landscape of war. During 24 Hours East, the doors are open from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with the official opening from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The exhibition runs until October 5, 2024
