Creating safe spaces
Since the 1970s, LGBTQI+ communities have been creating safe spaces to escape discrimination and hatred. The exhibition Queer Spaces explores these places of intimacy, community and imagination by sharing stories from the World Press Photo archives of the past 15 years.
Visitors will have a unique opportunity to reflect on the significance of these spaces and their role in the lives of LGBTQI+ individuals worldwide. What does it mean to have a safe space, and how can we maintain it in the future?
Queer Spaces provides an opportunity to promote empathy and connection and looks ahead to a more inclusive future. The exhibition is part of the celebration of Amsterdam 750 and 70 years of World Press Photo. It is a must-see for anyone interested in the stories and perspectives of the queer community.
