Future walk through the polder

Fancy an inspiring walk through the fields and orchards of Nieuw-West? Then join the Lutkemeerommetje. On Friday, 20 June, you will walk a short route of 2 km at sunset. On Sunday, 15 June, there is an XL edition of approximately 8 km. Along the way, you will hear about Lutkemeer Polder, the last sea clay soil in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. This fertile soil is perfect for urban agriculture and forms the basis for the Voedselpark Amsterdam project.

Biodiversity

You will visit the self-harvesting garden PLUK, which is part of the Ranunculus cooperative. During the walk, you will receive an explanation about the nature of the polder, the value of urban agriculture, and why biodiversity is so important here. You will also hear about the status of the plans for the Food Park. Urban agriculture contributes to sustainability and a circular economy, a better living environment, and broader prosperity in the city - especially in Nieuw-West.
