Tour through the energy-neutral Climate Greenhouse at Hortus

Three climates

In the new Climate Greenhouse of the Hortus Botanicus, you can see plants from 3 very different climates. During a tour, you walk through tropical heat and learn more about how plants adapt to their environment. The greenhouse itself is completely energy-neutral. It is not heated with gas, but in a smart, sustainable way. The greenhouse was built by professionals together with the Hortus, and local residents helped, for example, by supplying old garden tiles.

400 years old

The Hortus has been around for 400 years and is located in the middle of the city. It is a place where you can relax and learn about nature. In this new greenhouse, plants, sustainability and smart construction come together.
