Intrigues of the Darkness
Ravel's 'Gaspard de la nuit', inspired by the macabre stories of Edgar Allan Poe, Scriabin's devilish 'Black Mass' sonata, and De Falla's 'El amor brujo', in which a gypsy is haunted by a ghost. Mussorgsky's well-known 'Paintings from an Exhibition', with gnomes, catacombs and witches, comprises the second half of this programme. It is not without reason that Fedorova titled this program Intrigues of the Darkness . In combination with our attractive church, this could cause shivers.
Passion for music
She was only 23 years old when the Ukrainian pianist Anna Fedorova soloed in a sold-out Concertgebouw with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie conducted by Martin Panteleev. Her impressive performance of Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto was broadcast as a Sunday morning concert on Radio 4 and now has more than 41 million views on YouTube. It meant Anna's definitive international breakthrough.
With 14 competition victories to her name, Anna is firmly on her way as an international piano star. She is associated with the Dutch record label Channel Classics and receives star reviews with her albums. But Anna's passion for music goes beyond the concert hall. In the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, she raised more than €500,000 for humanitarian aid organizations through her performances and fundraisers.
