Arturo den Hartog + Djuwa Mroivili - A History of Female Black Composers
A brilliant combination of English music, contemporary, musical and jazz. This is how the songs of the Belizean-born British composer Errollyn Wallen are described. Countertenor Arturo den Hartog concludes a recital entirely dedicated to female composers of color with her work. In the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, he also champions the equally fantastic works of Margaret Bonds, Majoie Hajary and Florence Price, her musical predecessors.

About Arturo den Hartog
The Surinamese-Dutch countertenor Arturo den Hartog won the audience award of the Princess Christina Competition in 2021. He manifests himself as a champion of the work of underrated composers. He has successfully promoted the music of composers such as the Surinamese Majoie Hajary and Errollyn Wallen, the first woman of color whose work was performed during the Last Night of the Proms. Wallen wrote no fewer than twenty-two operas and her works are performed and broadcast all over the world, but rarely in the Netherlands. This also applies to the music of her predecessors. Den Hartog changes this and thus wins the hearts of the audience.
