Avishai Cohen
Bassist Avishai Cohen is a kind of human bridge between east and west. He emigrated from Israel to America, years later he did the opposite again. He also musically connects styles from all corners of the world. Since Chick Corea discovered him, he has worked with big names such as Bobby McFerrin and Alicia Keys. But perhaps Avishai Cohen's own compositions and his physical playing make the most impression. He recently released the strong album Shifting Sands with his Trio.
Trio
"This is another magical trio," says Avishai Cohen about the new line-up of his Avishai Cohen Trio. With Elchin Shirinov from Azerbaijan on piano. “He is very focused and confident,” Avishai said. 'And then I found drummer Roni Kaspi. She may only be 21, but she is an exceptional talent who brings her own strong personality.” The three of them recorded the album Shifting Sands , a new musical adventure on which Avishai and his two younger companions continually surprise. And that it sounds even better live than on record, according to Avishai Cohen.
