Michael League and Bill Laurance

Anyone who hears the names of Michael League and Bill Laurance immediately thinks of the world-famous jazz formation Snarky Puppy. Now the two are coming up with a completely different, new project: together, they made the album Where You Wish You Were outside of Snarky Puppy. Bill Laurance says: 'It was only a matter of time until we made a record together.' The result shows a surprising side to Laurance and League. For example, Michael League mainly plays oud and other acoustic string instruments on the album.

Where You Wish You Were

On Where You Wish You Were, you only hear Michael League and Bill Laurance. The album allowed the two musicians to showcase the intimacy, vulnerability and clarity of making music together. The album has its own unique style and atmosphere. This is partly due to the choice of instruments. Bill Laurence explores the possibilities of the acoustic piano, and Michael League exchanges his trusted electric bass for, among other things, the traditional oud and the age-old ngoni, a West African lute.
