Shostakovich wrote the First Violin Concerto during a time of enormous censorship in the Soviet Union. The uncertain history of its creation can be heard in the intense music, which is rich in emotions. In addition to Shostakovich, the program includes a commissioned composition by Ramin Amin Tafreshi.
