Simply Quartet

Shanghai 2008: the Simply Quartet was a fact. The four members, now living in Vienna, are rising stars in the quartet world. They play on the cutting edge, flash through repertoire that spans time and place and have a fine sense of detail. Bachtrack summed up their achievements nicely: 'Total dedication, high-quality performances and great musicality; all characteristics of this wonderful ensemble.'

Beethoven arranged 'Sally in our Alley', Mozart composed Turkish music: crossover is timeless. Jazz giant Wynton Marsalis, who also likes to play classical music on his trumpet, composed Creole dances for string quartet. Equally striking is the small oeuvre that viola player Rebecca Clarke wrote in addition to her career as one of the first female professional musicians. In her Poem for string quartet, Debussy is never far away. With Mozart and Grieg, these works form exotic flowers in a colourful bouquet.
