Dutch String Orchestra - A second home
Together with harpist Joost Willemze, the Dutch String Orchestra (Nederlands Strijkersgilde) shows the versatility of a string orchestra. The fact that a second home can make the difference is the common thread throughout this concert. The program includes music from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Program
In Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge, Benjamin Britten uses music to describe the character of his teacher with whom he found a second home. For William Alwyn, the heavenly harp sounds of Lyra Angelica that flowed from his pen offered refuge in a musical landscape of atonal music. While Erwin Schulhoff, who composed Fünf Stücke für Streichquartett, hoped to find a second home geographically, Rick van Veldhuizen was inspired by seeing a second home with someone else in his piece Mais le corps taché d'ombres. The Dutch String Orchestra presents this music performed under the direction of Swiss conductor Konradin Herzog.
