Driven by the mission to revive the music of lesser-known and unjustly forgotten composers, who despite their enormous and undeniable talent are ignored today for historical and geopolitical reasons that have nothing to do with their musical skills. Elegies and Echoes presents the works of four composers: Mieczysław Weinberg, Ignace Lilien, Felix Blumenfeld and Samuil Feinberg. Born in Eastern Europe and of Jewish descent, they had to endure various forms of persecution and threats during their lives.

Symbolic representation of destroyed cities and broken lives

These composers were chosen as symbolic representations of a bygone era, of ruined cities and broken lives, where music is the only remnant of what once was. With very different and contrasting styles and characters, their works embody a journey through half a century of great hopes and irreparable losses. Through the prism of their eventful and sometimes tragic lives, their works belong to the 'Past' as a geographical entity, as a homeland that they had to leave behind and that is now gone forever. Their music thus becomes at once an elegy and an echo of these bygone times.
