Fauré Quartett - Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition
Mussorgsky originally wrote his beloved 'Exhibition of Pictures' for piano. Ravel's orchestral version is possibly even more famous. The idiosyncratic Fauré Quartett plays its own version of the piano quartet with an unprecedented palette of colours in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

Paintings from an exhibition for piano quartet
In his imaginative Paintings from an Exhibition, Mussorgsky conjures up ten paintings inspired by an exhibition of works by his late friend, the painter Viktor Hartman. We meet children playing in the Tuileries, bickering women on the market, and gnomes, talking skulls and a hut on chicken legs belonging to the witch Baba Yaga. In addition to the original version for piano, there are several arrangements, of which Ravel's version for symphony orchestra is the best known. The Fauré Quartett plays its own colourful arrangement for the piano quartet.
Faure Quartett
The idiosyncratic Fauré Quartett always brings surprising programs. In addition to classical masterpieces for piano quartet, these passionate musicians often play new arrangements of famous masterpieces. They also collaborate with big bands and pop artists such as Rufus Wainwright. This time, the ensemble combines its own arrangement of Musorgsky's Exhibition of Pictures with Brahms' elaborate Third Piano Quartet and an arrangement of three songs by Fauré.
