Global Charming
Global Charming, the 4-piece band from Amsterdam makes postpunk with extensions to artrock, mathrock or postrock. By continuously recomposing the foundations, they try to push the boundaries of the genre. For example, the new single 'Shelf Life' may sound like catchy synthrock. The new album shoots from uptempo synths to slow postrock, a clear style, but no song is the same. In any case, 'Four Second Fiddles' is the successor to the acclaimed debut album from 2020.

The band consisting of Fokke de Wit (bass), Jilles van Kleef (vocals, guitar), Sara Elzinga (guitars, synths, saxophone, vocals) and Sjoerd Bartlema (drums) released their debut album Mediocre, Brutal in 2020, garnering international praise and being nominated for Best Dutch Album by 3voor12. For the second album, all the songs were created by reworking improvisations recorded on mobile phones in various rehearsal spaces. Shelf Life is the first release; a sharp, repetitive synth line and worn-out vocals race against each other until the end. Tackling between regret and acceptance, aware of the missed opportunities.
